KeymasterMy story aboutg a digital nomad started in 2010 when llege. I just wanted to get some money to travel more.
As a broke student, sometimes I couldn’t afford even a weekend in another part of Poland, let alone trips abroad. I wanted to work, earn my first significant income, and see at least a small part of the world. I was in a small, remote village with limited transportation (in winter, no buses dared to go through the tunnels of snow).
So, I thought I would look for online jobs! I didn’t honestly know what to expect. I was browsing through different gigs and applying for copywriting jobs. Finding my first client didn’t take much effort. He asked me to create simple articles and content for his website. A batch of 10 articles in the beginning, ten other articles after that… and so it started. After a month, I had enough money for my first trip abroad as an adult without my family.
When I returned from traveling, I continued my work with this client. In the meantime, I was looking for other businesses to work with. I started writing and translating professional content for advertising and digital agencies shortly after my trip. Everything was online, without personal meetings or phone calls.
When I gained more experience and confidence, I created my own copywriting and translation studio. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. It exposed me to many more opportunities. I established long-lasting relationships with big travel, fashion, and automotive brands.
Not only did I become a digital nomad, but I also managed to establish a strong business with long-lasting clients. Today, I rarely apply for projects. I have a few trusted clients with whom I work daily or weekly. They then recommend me to other people, and so it goes.
Was I lucky? Sometimes I think that, yes, I was lucky. But the luck only comes with persistence and determination. If you focus on something, I believe you will achieve it sooner or later.
