I am currently in Cyprus, and I wouldn't recommend it. The weather is excellent, but the internet speeds are not. The cost of living is okay regarding housing, but the cost of goods is high because of its location away from mainland Europe. The population is mainly retirees from the UK (an overstatement, but with some truth).

Also, something to consider: Cyprus is one of several municipalities in Europe and worldwide where you cannot flush toilet paper. You put the used paper in the bin next to the toilet. For some people and veteran travelers, it's no big deal. This will take some time for others, particularly some in the USA. Unlike in most of SE Asia, there isn't that wash hose next to the toilets, and it is not expected to see bidets. Hopefully, this isn't TMI, but it can be a consideration.
