Digital Nomad Living

How much does a "digital nomad" need for living per month approximately?

Hi, there's no one-size-fits-all answer to that question. It depends on where you are willing to live, how you are eager to live, and how creative you can be ... For example, if you live in Thailand or Vietnam, you can live on a tiny fraction of the money that is needed in the United States or other expensive countries. If you are creative, there are ways to live on the cheap, even in expensive countries.

Digital Nomad Living

I have been hanging out recently with a guy who lives in his van. California is very expensive, but if you're willing to live in your van, that expense goes way down. And it's great for mobility, simplicity, freedom. Also, if you learn how to work with the magic of the Universe (not to sound too woo-woo), all kinds of opportunities will arise to keep costs down or manifest money. For example, this guy trades his time for yoga teacher training and other things he wants.

I got a lot of my expenses down by simplifying my life and paying off my mortgage and car loan. I needed a lot more income when I had debt. So again, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. I rent out the house when I'm not here, which provides another source of income. But that meant having more income for a specific period to create the possibility of an income-producing property.

People do other creative things. There is a website called Trusted Housesitters where you can housesit for gigs worldwide, trading home care and pet care for a free place to live. If you're willing to share hostel rooms, you can spend far less money than getting your hotel rooms. Often, hotels will negotiate a better rate with you if you stay for a more extended period.

Being resourceful and creative and thinking outside the usual "normal" confines of life can make digital womanhood much less expensive than you might think.

Cheers.
