Gabon is located on the west coast of Central Africa. It is bordered by Equatorial Guinea to the northwest, Cameroon to the north, the Republic of the Congo to the east and south, and the Gulf of Guinea to the west. The country's capital and largest city is Libreville.

Gabon is known for its abundant natural resources. It's rich in oil reserves and has a relatively small population, making it one of the wealthier nations in the region. Apart from oil, Gabon also has large deposits of manganese and timber.

Over 10% of the country's territory has been designated as national parks – one of the most significant proportions for any country worldwide. Gabon is home to hundreds of species of mammals, birds, and plants, including lowland gorillas and forest elephants.

The official language of Gabon is French, and the country follows a presidential form of government. The Gabonese Republic is the official name of the country.
